The Party Is Over for Carlson and Lemon

Two titans of political news commentary in the US, CNN and Fox News, just lost some major figures in their respective networks. This is going to cause a fairly significant shift in both networks and in the way people watch news.

The people that left these networks are Don Lemon, who is one of the most famous reporters to work at CNN, and a huge news personality, as well as the mega famous Tucker Carlson of Fox News.

Tucker Carlson is one of the most famous news personalities ever, and is fairly controversial for his stances on many hot-button issues in modern politics. Not too long ago, Tucker Carlson was in the news for drawing 3.473 million viewers in for a broadcast. According to Forbes, “Carlson helped propel Fox News to its 104th consecutive weekly ratings victory over CNN and MSNBC, with an average prime time audience of 2.5 million viewers and 359,000 viewers in the key demo.” Fox news abruptly announced that they had parted ways with Tucker Carlson on the 24th, shortly after Carlson’s previous broadcast on Friday the 21st, where Tucker gave no indication that he would be leaving the network.

Don Lemon, on the other hand, was fired from CNN recently, after 15 years working at the network as one of their most prominent anchors. Following his termination from his position at the network, Lemon stated that he had not received “any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.” He would go on to say that “It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”

The departure of both of these prominent news figures represents a major change in news media, especially considering the mysterious nature of both of their departures from their respective positions. No further context has been given on why Carlson and Lemon were ousted from their networks.
