Changes to the parking lot system are being enforced starting this year, with a requirement for students to show administration a copy of their insurance and registration in order to receive a pass, as well as different colored passes for juniors and seniors.
The new policy ensures that parking passes are given out to people who actually have vehicles, and prevents juniors from parking in the senior lot. Both of these things were issues last year that encouraged the development of a more organized system.
“We’re really cracking down on parking passes this year,” said Assistant Principal Nicole Lanni.
While admin is not concerned with irresponsible behavior inside the parking lot, claiming that adequate consequences will be given to any offenders, students think that the new system does not address drivers who often speed and ignore stop signs.
“Since there wasn’t a huge change, I don’t know how much people’s behaviors will change, but it added another layer to prevent people from parking where they shouldn’t, which is always a good thing” Said Senior Lorelei Archambault.
