By: Cash Vincent Ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year again. A time to celebrate, rejoice, and shop like your life depends on it! This year is going to be pretty different, but here are my top five rock/metal Christmas songs to keep you warm this crazy holiday season. 5. Run Rudolph Run-Chuck Berry Let’s kick off this list with none other than the legendary Chuck Berry. Considered to be a Christmas classic, this song showcases Berry’s signature guitar sound and blues-style licks that make this song such an essential. 4. N.O.E.L-Psychostick Up next we have a hilarious song parody by metal comedy band, Psychostick. Here, Psychostick parodies B.Y.O.B by the iconic metal band System of a Down; however this version humorously discusses the overwhelming consumerism of modern-day Christmas rather than corrupt war profiteering. 3. Heavy Metal Christmas-Twisted Sister In this parody of 12 Days of Christmas off of Twisted Sister’s Christmas cover album A Twisted Christmas, golden rings and partridges in pear trees are replaced with skull earrings and tattoos of Ozzy. This is a fun rendition of a christmas classic that most metalheads will identify strongly with. 2. Fairytale of New York- The Pogues
Fairytale of New York is considered to be one of, if not the greatest christmas songs of all time. While this song probably wouldn’t be considered “rock” to some people, I still think it deserves a spot just because of how great it is musically. 1. Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24- Trans Siberean Orchestra I’ve always thought that metal and symphony go really well together, and I think Trans Siberian Orchestra just about proves that. One of my all-time favorite Christmas songs and just an epic song all-around; Christmas Eve starts off with a slow intro of “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and then a loud sweeping chorus of “Carol of the Bells” that you can instantly imagine being played on a stage with lasers and pyro. All and all Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 is a killer of a Christmas song that will top my list for this issue; thanks for reading and happy holidays!
