The Lincoln Lion logo has become the staple of athletics, academics, and day to day life at Lincoln High school. From football helmets to soccer jerseys and even in our everyday walks to different classes, it’s not hard to find a lion in sight. This is no accident; this is the result of a concerted effort to achieve consistent branding throughout the Lincoln school district.
Lincoln’s Lion logo is known to every student of LHS and has instilled a sense of pride, power, and support behind the students of LHS day in and day out.
“Branding creates a supportive school environment while creating a sense of pride,” said Principal Hopkins, a big proponent of the lion logo.
The LHS lion stands for strength, determination, and a loud roar to show that Lincoln is ready for any challenge. This branding consistency helps Lincoln support what the school is about, and it continues to build, create, and develop a strong consistent sense of pride and connection among students.
“Lions and students connect because both are leaders who take care of family and pride like our students,” said Hopkins.
Students have and continue to have a strong connection to the values a lion possesses to thrive and be impactful at LHS.
“I think the Lions logo represents pride and unity, amongst its students and teachers that bring everyone together. I have seen it all around the school halls, posters, as well as around the gymnasium,” said sophomore Matthew Silverio.
School branding consistency at Lincoln High School is a team effort and a vision to keep expanding, all across the school district to create the best possible experiences for the Lincoln community and students and everyone in between.
“It is a team effort,” said Athletic Director Mr. O’Connor. “Myself and the Assistant Athletic Director oversee the athletic department and we work with the Principal Hopkins and the Superintendent, Dr. Filippelli, along with members of the school committee to try and bring the best experience possible to our students and our community.”
The idea and continuation of consistent branding is years in the making.
“When I came on board in 2017, and when our Superintendent Dr. Filippelli came on board in 2018, we really put an emphasis on our brand, and one of the biggest pushes from Dr. Filippelli over the course of the last couple of years was to make the Lincoln Lion brand universal across the district and prominent at each school” said Mr. O’Connor.
Branding consistency is an important aspect of athletics at Lincoln High School. The Lion logo appears on almost all athletic gear and athletic facilities. That’s important because it creates a sense of pride and representation for our sports.
“In athletics specifically, all of our uniforms and apparel have the lion logo,” said O’Connor. “We want our student-athletes, coaches, staff, and community to wear the lion logo proudly and promote our brand. We have branding specifications and standards as it pertains to any use of our logo by our coaches or teams.”
Lincoln’s newest efforts in a push for consistent branding has led to new door wraps installed over the summer with the Lion logo and the addition of the Lion logo across Lincoln’s baseball and softball fields.
“The goal is to make the Lincoln Lions logo recognizable to the community of Lincoln and the state of Rhode Island as a whole and with Dr. Filippelli’s vision of expanding the brand throughout the district is an exciting time and I look forward to what the future holds,” said O’Connor.
