If you’re craving something fruity, there is a new place in Lincoln to try. The grand opening of Playa Bowls at Lincoln Mall on November 9th had the town lined up outside the door. Sitting between the Ihop and Jersey Mikes, the acai shop sells healthy options such as smoothie bowls, fruit juices, cold brews, and more.
The store has a tropical beachy vibe to it, with bright colors, cool murals on the walls, and a yummy menu. Each menu item is completely customizable, offering every possible nutritious ingredient. The fresh fruit and vegetable choices vary from strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, bananas, mango, kiwis, carrots, kale, spinach, cucumber. The customer can then top it off with protein powders, flakes, different seeds, tons of syrups, plus milks, and peanut butter and nutella.
According to General Manager Cassidy Sousa, the opening has been a success.
“I would say over 5000 [customers have come], especially during the grand opening and the last holiday,” said Sousa. “Lunch rushes are typically busy too.”
She also expects the good business to continue.
“I do see a lot of success for Playa bowls in the future,” said Sousa. “The plaza itself brings in a lot of people here. With high school students and the colleges nearby. It also being a new place might be something people wanna try.”
It’s has quickly become a hot spot for Lincoln students.
“Playa bowls is great, one of the best smoothie bowls I’ve ever had,” said Lincoln junior Samuel Masanz. This is the second Playa Bowls location in the entire state. The first opened in East Greenwich back in June.
