The gift giving season is underway as the Christmas and holiday season has arrived, so if you’re looking for that one big gift to put on your list this year, the iphone 16 Pro might be just that.
I’ve had my iphone 16 Pro for about three months and have had a good experience so far. Between the battery life, camera quality, new colors, and sharper design, upgrading or trading in your old phone for the iphone 16 might be worth a try.
The first major benefit of the iphone 16 Pro is the battery life. Since the first time I got the iphone 16 Pro this fall, it has yet to go completely dead unlike other phones I’ve had. The battery, depending on how and what you use your phone for, can last you from 7 am to about 9 or 10 at night. I’ve used my phone a lot during the day and still have a good battery until about 10 at night. The battery is so good that it can last you over 24 hours with moderate use. So if you’re looking for a phone that can get you through a long day with a great battery life, the iphone 16 Pro might just be the one for you.
The camera and video quality on the iphone 16 pro is another plus. The iPhone 16’s 48MP Fusion camera can be used for taking wider photos, a major benefit when taking pictures or even videos for journalism. There are three cameras on the iphone 16 pro, which adds to the video capture quality of the phone. With the iphone 16 pro, I have been able to record with 4k 120fps quality with Dolby Vision included. The video recording quality is really a great aspect of owning the iphone 16 Pro, and it’s so good that multiple short films have been made with it.
A new feature called “Camera Control” has improved the experience when I take pictures for fun or for journalism. The camera control feature allows you to take videos using the right side button. Gently place your finger on the button to record, or remove your finger to stop the recording. You can double tap as well to start and stop the recording. If you take a picture using the side button, you just have to double click to capture the picture. This button allows you to zoom in and out, focusing on what you’re photographing while capturing. This is most beneficial while taking a horizontal video, as the landscape view will appear as a studio camera.
The sound is a feature you can’t overlook either. When recording or editing videos, I feel as though the iPhone 16 Pro has been able to produce a good audio mix of true-to-life sounds at a higher quality. The new Spatial audio improves and makes voices more immersive, sounding as if the audio is sourced from a real life conversation, and less like a recording.
Apple’s color options include Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium. I have the Black Titanium and love how the glass was removed from the back, making the titanium feel sharp while having an expensive look without the fear of shattering glass.
Another consideration is how much storage you want. Since I edit Youtube videos and Instagram posts, I choose the 256 GB option, giving me plenty of storage space. You can choose from as low as 128GB ($999) to as high as 1TB ($1,499).
Despite being a higher priced gift idea, if there was one big gift that you’re looking for this season, The iphone 16 is definitely worth a spot on your list this year. I would recommend to people who own a iPhone 14 and 15 that an upgrade might not be needed just yet unless you are really into camera work. As for anyone who owns an iphone 13 and under, adding the iphone 16 pro to your list this year is most definitely the best option, as Apple has started to face out older phones with updates, resulting in a slower phone. iPhone 13 and under users will recognize the most difference, going from one or two cameras to three and a stronger interface that will last 4-6 years.
