This year Lincoln High School welcomes a brand new energy to the foreign language department with the hiring of new Spanish teacher Kristen Adams. Replacing Mrs. Miguel, who moved out of state last year, Adams came to Lincoln seeking an educational setting to share her knowledge with foreign language students, and we couldn’t be happier to have her here. She is excited to embark on this newfound journey and create lasting memories along the way.
Adams’s LHS experience so far has been nothing but positive. Overcome with love and support from both teachers and students, Adams concludes, “It has been a really positive experience so far! I feel very supported, and I love the energy of the students. This sense of community makes starting out at LHS so enjoyable.”
Adams’ passion for Spanish dates back to a trip abroad to Lima, Peru. While studying Spanish there, she discovered a new love for the language and its culture. Sparking her passion, she began searching for educational jobs where she could share her experiences with younger generations.
“Teaching Spanish allows me to open the door for students to connect with new cultures and perspectives,” Adams said.
While being in a new environment can be nerve-racking, Adams has adjusted incredibly and is ready to face this new chapter in her life. She expressed that throughout her teaching career she not only wants her students to learn and understand the Spanish language, but also to realize the importance of connection and Hispanic culture.
“Of course, I want them to learn the Spanish language,” said Adams, “but more importantly, I hope they also gain confidence in expressing themselves, curiosity about other cultures, and an appreciation for how language can connect people.”
Lincoln High School has been nothing but welcoming toward Adams since she was hired.
“The teachers at LHS have been incredibly supportive. My department feels like a little family, and that makes all the difference,” Adams said. “We eat lunch together every day in our secret clubhouse. It’s made me really appreciate being part of such a welcoming and collaborative community.”
Fellow foreign language teacher Ms. Botelho has also shown her incredible support toward Ms. Adams’ educational transition.
“Ms. Adams has a lot of energy, she brings a lot of spunk to our department, and I think she’s doing a great job,” Botelho said.
With courage, excitement, and not a hint of fear, Ms. Adams has stepped into a new world and is overjoyed to join the LHS family.
