The Lincoln Girls’ Volleyball team swept West Warwick 3-0 on Monday night, improving their record to 6-1. The Lions won the first two easily 25-15 and 25-16, but they fell behind in the third set, before coming back to win 25-19.
The Lions’ defense and teamwork was too much for West Warwick.
“I would say our biggest strength is our defense, a lot of us are mainly defensive players, so we definitely can pick the ball up,” senior captain Breanne Bouthillette said. “I think we support each other because we are all very close, we’re all friends outside of volleyball, so the fact that we’re friends helps our communication.”
Head coach Rob Schmitt echoed his captain’s words.
“We played solid defensively,” Schmitt said. “Our defense has been for the past two years.’
This is the Lions’ second win in a row after a tough 0-3 loss to Cumberland last week.
“Definitely after a loss we will watch our film and see what we need to improve, then when we win we just get really excited and get ready for the next game,” Bouthillette said. “Our main goal is to make sure that we’re all helping each other through and through, and we want to get far in the playoffs.”
With this victory, the Lincoln girls’ Volleyball team looks forward to their next challenge match against Bayview on Friday the 26th.
