LHS has just wrapped up their fifty ninth year of variety shows. I went to opening night and enjoyed many of the acts. My favorite highlights were the dances, the dances’ within the show were energetic and fun, personally the “Get’cha Head in the game” was a throwback for me and was my favorite of the night. But this show had many highlights and was a great watch.
- Vocalist Everett Webster’s Whole Lotta Love was a very exciting performance and was a throw back for some. He was very enthusiastic and definitely made the crowd wanting to see what other performances were to come.
- The boys and girls chorus line dancing to “Get’cha Head in the game” was very upbeat and the song was very nostalgic for many because the students grew up watching High School Musical. The choreography made by Madeleine Desmarais was energetic and the transitions between different songs were smooth and fun.
- “McDonalds Mob” written by Zachary Correia and Jack Manion had many laughs throughout the crowd, because the idea that any mob would stop at McDonalds was so silly that it made it funny.
- “The Hospital” comedy act written by Zachary Correia and Jack Manion. The most memorable parts for some were the Jennifer Coolidge character performed by Louie Ranieri. It had the crowd laughing and was a great part of the act.
- One of the greatest vocalists in the show was Adleigh Tellier singing “It’s a Man’s Man’s world. Her vocals were on point, and she made a beautiful song even better with adding a nice outfit and background singers.
- The girls chorus line had 28 senior girls and the outfits were baggy sweats with cheetah print lining them with a representation of the disney movies Cheetah girls. The choreography, created by Evelyse Martinez and Lily Schmidts, was very lively and the crowd was roaring with cheer when they started. This act stood out from most and with that big of a group this was a tougher task
- The usual crowd favorite was the boys chorus line. This dance was choreographed by Evelyse Martinez, a total of 10 senior boys danced in the chorus line which was unfortunate that so many senior boys had backed out of the variety show. The boys were in firefighter costumes and were definitely not natural dancers. This performance was entertaining and had many laughs because of the bright makeup and watching them come and dance out in the crowd. It was a great way to end the show and the students were cheering with loud claps throughout the crowd.
