Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Avengers: Infinity War is one of the most exciting and intense superhero movies I’ve seen. Released in 2018 and directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, it brings together almost every major hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though there are so many characters, the movie does a great job balancing action, emotion, and story. With a rerelease of Avengers: Endgame coming back to theaters this year, I thought it would be appropriate to watch Infinity War again.
The plot focuses on the villain Thanos, who is trying to collect all six Infinity Stones so he can wipe out half of all life in the universe. Thanos believes the universe is unbalanced. Before he started collecting stones, he would wipe out planets that were running out of materials, food, etc. What makes him different from most villains is that he actually has motives that seem believable in his own twisted way. He doesn’t just want power, he thinks he is helping the universe. That makes him a much stronger and more interesting villain.
One of the best parts of the movie is how it brings together so many heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Spider-Man. It was really cool seeing characters who normally don’t interact team up in different groups. The action scenes are amazing, especially the battle in Wakanda and Thor’s entrance near the end. The special effects are also incredible and make everything feel huge and epic.
Another reason I liked this movie is because it has emotional moments, not just fighting. Some scenes are funny, which helps balance the serious parts, but there are also sad moments that hit hard. One moment that is sad is when Thanos sacrifices Gamora for the Soul Stone. This scene shouldn’t be sad as most viewers don’t like Thanos, but you can feel the regret he has, and yet still he goes through with his plan. The ending especially was shocking because it didn’t end the way most superhero movies do. Instead of the heroes winning, the villain actually succeeds, which made the movie stand out and left people wanting more.
If I had one criticism, it would be that people who haven’t seen other Marvel movies might get confused, since there are so many characters and storylines connecting together. It definitely helps to know the background before watching.
Overall, Avengers: Infinity War is an amazing movie because it combines action, humor, and emotion while taking risks with its story. It feels like the payoff of years of Marvel movies building up to one huge event. I would give it a 9.5/10 and recommend it to anyone who likes superhero movies or action films in general. It’s a movie that lives up to the hype.
