Looking for a laid back club that allows you to discover and enjoy new movies? Then Film Club sounds perfect for you.
Started by sophomores Juliette Amaya, Sofia Yakut, and Addison Prosnitz, the film club assigns two movies each month and then gathers to discuss them with club members at the end of the month.
“I wanted to start the club was mostly because of a random idea that popped into my head that running a club with Juliette and Sofia would be so fun,” said Prosnitz “After actually thinking about it for a minute I realized that starting a club would look good on a college application, and since I love movies, I thought a film club would be really cool to start.”
Assigned movies are based on a shared themes such as genre, actor, or franchise. For the month of March the club is watching two Jim Carrey films: Liar Liar and The Truman Show.
Students who join the club can watch assigned movies on Swank, a free streaming service for LHS students. This allows for students to watch any given movie without needing to purchase it.
While attending meetings, students will have access to their highly advertised shaved iced machine and film coloring sheets.
“As promised, shaved ice will be at all future meetings, along with other snacks and drinks” said Amaya.
The next meeting is scheduled for March 26th, and students who are interested in going should have watched the movies listed for the month. If anyone would like to join, contact Amaya, Yakut, or Prosnitz.
