Throughout this winter season, the Lincoln High School Boys Hockey Team has been close to unstoppable on the ice. They head into the playoffs as the #2 entering the playoffs after finishing with a 12-4-2 record just behind Portsmouth, who did manage to beat them twice in the regular season.
They will play on Friday against Narragansett/Chariho co-Op.
Despite their success, the team continues building towards something greater and continues seeking out more opportunities. Senior Ben Sampers believes the team’s full potential has not yet been reached.
“I think we are one of the more skilled teams in the division,” Sampers said. “We’re doing pretty well right now, but we can always do better, and I believe that once we find that gear, we’ll be a tough team to beat.”
“The biggest goal we have … is winning the state championship and hopefully moving up to Division 1,” said Tyson Duffy.
Captains Tyler Almeida and Nick Pelosi, as well as Coach Dylan Narodowy, have been major factors in the team’s success.
This year has been a significant improvement over last year’s 5-10-1 season.
Additionally, star players Brandon Paris, AJ Demarco, McLean Polak, and Rocco Bruzzi, the team’s goalie, have been major assets in securing victories.
Sophomore Tyler Pelosi also believes the team is drastically improving.
“I’m seeing a lot of freshmen and sophomores stepping into specific roles rather than individual skill positions,” he said. “Those in younger grades are building upon the team and focusing on helping them rather than only focusing on themselves. Everything is a team effort.”
