Last year was just a trial run for the girls lacrosse team, and they are looking to come out on top this season.
They are returning from a 6-9 record, in which they ranked 5th in their division. They had several new players that forced them to work together and learn teamwork while also learning how to win close games.
“We want to win the whole thing, make it through the playoffs, and win the D4 title,” head coach Jordan Musser said.
The team graduated three players from last year’s squad: Faith Miguel, Spencer Cameron, and Aliza Chan. The team will have to replace the combined 81 goals and 29 assists by these players.
Despite their losses, this young team is looking beyond.
“Last season we had a lot of new players to the team and we had to learn how to win tight, close games.” Musser said, “It taught us how to be strong minded and to pull together as a team.”
Two important players this season will be junior Molly Comtois and sophomore Grace Araujo. Last season, Comtois scored a hat trick against Classical in a close 8-7 win, and Araujo scored 4 goals that helped carry Lincoln to a 10-9 win over Tiverton.
Sophomore Quinn Grubman is looking forward to building off last year’s hard work.
“I think we’re gonna do really great this season,” Grubman said.
Their first game will be at Cranston West on March 26th at 4pm.
