Hello and welcome to my podcast. My name is Lucas Parent and I’ll be your host today. Let’s get right into it.

Entering a much anticipated Thursday night matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the Patriots fell short. Fueled by a Mac Jones touchdown to Marcus Jones, the Patriots led the game going into the second quarter, but watched as it dwindled away. Bills quarterback and MVP candidate Josh Allen threw a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, and Devin Singletary ran it in for six early in the fourth quarter as the Bills amassed a 24-7 lead. The patriots scored a field goal with less than two minutes remaining, but it was way too little, way too late. The Bills outplayed the patriots handily on offense. Allen’s 223 passing yards topped 195 from Mac Jones, and the Bills 132 rushing yards more than doubled 60 from the Pats. On the defensive side of the ball, Matthew Judon failed to record a sack for the second straight game after tallying 13 in the previous 10 games. Josh Uche was the only patriot to record a sack, getting two. The patriots are now 6-6 and trail the 7-4 Jets for the third seed in the AFC East. The Patriots will conclude the season in Buffalo on January 8th, with potential hopes of a playoff spot.

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is set to return this week following an 11-game suspension this week as the Browns visit the Houston Texans, Watsons’ former team.

The Celtics did not play last night, but are coming off of a 13-point win against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. The two teams meet again in Boston tonight, with the Celtics being heavy favorites over the lowly heat. The two teams previously met in the Eastern Conference Finals last season.

Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is being recognized for his stellar start to the season. Tatum was named eastern conference player of the month for October and November, leading the Celtics to an 18-4 start while averaging over 31 points and 7 rebounds a game. Tatum finds himself right in the thick of the MVP race with names like Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetekuomnpo in the midst of his superb start. Suns guard Devin Booker took home the praise for the Western Conference.

The Celtics extended forward Al Horford on a two-year deal on Thursday. Horford, who is averaging about 11 points and 6 rebounds per contest for the Celtics, is a 16 year NBA veteran who could potentially be playing for the Celtics until his 40th birthday. Crazier things have happened.

The Bruins last played on Tuesday, winning 3-1 over the Lightning. Their next game is on Saturday against the Avalanche. The Bruins remain the top team in terms of record in the NHL.

I’d like to offer a huge congratulations to the United States men’s national team for soccer. A win against Iran on Tuesday cemented a spot for the States in the Round of 16. Christian Pulisic played the role of hero as he scored America’s lone goal in the 1-0 win. The United States finished second in Group B, behind only England, who they held to a scoreless draw one week ago. The United States will play the Netherlands at 10 am on Saturday, a team which won two of three in the group stage.

The Red Sox, now enveloped by free agency, have yet to make any notable moves this offseason. Xander Bogearts, Nathan Eovaldi, and JD Martinez are still yet to be re-signed.

A notable name to watch for the Red Sox is free agent catcher Christian Vasquez. Vasquez was with the Red Sox from 2014 to 2022 before he was dealt to the champion Houston Astros.

Bryant basketball, back in action today, is facing the Bears of Brown. Tomorrow, the in-state rivalry is renewed as Providence College visits URI. The Friars are coming off a loss at TCU, and the Rams are coming off of a loss against Boston College.

Thanks for listening, and be sure to catch the next installment of Parent’s Podcast.
